Lucky me, got this chance to get to dine-in in Carne Y Vino, KL! A branch of Pampas, located at Radius International Hotel, Changkat Bukit Bintang, launched lately for around 3 months plus, great environment, fantastic food, and of course the bottomless liquor that can't be missed! Get your taste bud and appetite ready, the following would be tempeting!
Carne Y Vino

A List of Wine - Pick One or Two!
Red Silk 2008 by
Oliverhill Winery
Not really a wine lover, but the Manager there can definitely gives you a guide on which to pair with along with your main course.

It was actually a food testing on behalf of One who's going to organize a company party, well get to follow and test along, why not! A total of 3 of us, 3 - soup tester, 3 - main course, 2 - desserts, 1 - house wine!
House Wine - Chilean
Cream of Celery Soup
Soup of the Day - Free Tester
Great in taste, but not that creamy, slightly diluted, would taste better if it's creamier!
Crispy Duck Breast
Mmm-mmmm! Fettuccine linguine with crispy diced duck breast, cooked with rich and creamy white sauce and pasley, topped with thin sliced cheese.
Closer view, few thin pieces of cheese, one diced of crispy breast meat, along with creamy fettuccine, Yum-Yum-Yum!
Sausage Platter & Mash

Well, quite a simple dish, as the frankfurter is just a normal piece of chicken sausage - but really Great in Taste! And the potato mash at the bottom is real smooth and has that great butter aroma!
Plate Dry Aged Beef Patagonia
Argentina Grass Fed Grill Beef Tenderloin
This ONE - Brilliant! With all those fancy names and description, I strongly believe only the taste and smell that count! We ordered medium well, the Chef did it 100% the way we want it. Besides, the beef's tenderness is totally undeniable!
Blue Cheese Sauce
Oh, the Blue Cheese Sauce, the very own recipe of Carne Y Vino! Strongly recommended by the Manager, a must try! This 5-star sauce is the BEST! I'm a cheese lover, very obsessed over cheesy stuff, if it's not because of this food testing session, I'm so going to miss this precious!
Crepe Suzette
Dessert! As per the menu, it says 'A crepe with eurre Suzette, a sauce of caramelized sugar and butter, orange juice, zest and Gran Marrier Liqueur on top, served with vanilla ice cream.' A refreshing piece, sweet and sour at the same time, some creamy ice cream melting all the way you sip the dressing, yummy Y.U.M!
Creme Brulee
Aiyo-yo-yo... My attention was 3 seconds off the table and ended up leaving this only! Not really a complete picture but enough said. Creme Brulee, one just so normal that it's almost everywhere now in most of the restaurant. But the Manager said they did it the different way for the sugar dressing on top, it's like a different crunchy piece topped on it - Delicious!

Okay, that's all for now! I was told by the Manager that she's organizing a food testing session for food blogger, but am I qualified for one? I hope this post might help! Oh yes, you might need more information from their facebook page!

Yokoso Ichiban, SS2 Mall

Yeap yeap yeap, another deal online, this one is from Dealmates - Yokoso Ichiban. Well, we thought we had a great deal, one set of it, and then maybe top up with something else, you know, depend on the price. Turn out, we were wrong ;p
Dealmates.com
Yokoso Ichiban, SS2 Mall
Entrance
ONE pair of Chopsticks & Menu
First glance, the price list of the menu hits us real hard. Even the normal Nigiri sushi costs us around RM 6++ at least! Fried rice for RM 10++. So, we presented the voucher and the waitress was in doubt, because we had no extra order besides the one we bought, and oh, we ordered ocha for RM 2.00 (even my favourite Zanmai only charging me RM1.00!)
Soy Sauce, Salt, and Pepper
Discounted Price: RM 16.00
Normal Price: RM 40.00
Oh my gosh, I thought we really had a great deal and ended up we got this?! No joke, despite the discounted price, this few pieces cost me and you RM40, and it's located at SS2 Mall. Oh well, there was crowd but all of them using the vouchers, so... Your say!
So, basically each of these costs you around RM10. No doubt, they are fresh, nice and tasty. Unfortunately, I'm a budget consumer. In that case, unless they're having another promotion, don't think I'll step feet in again to this pricey shop ;(

Film Review: Changeling

A true story back then at 1928, a single mother and her only son, child kidnapper and murderer, and a bunch of hypocrite policemen.

Was eyeing on this movie for quite some time till my boy got it for me from the net, eye-catching and stunning shock true story, that is still happening among us within every society. Just that people learn from mistakes, not to correct the morality of human kind, but to learn how to hide and cover their asses in a better way.

Son gone missing, was then replaced and persuaded by policemen that another kid is her son, main purpose is to shut her and the media up, turn out which the mother refused to. The moment she goes for the press conference, the 'back door' tactic is used on her to lock her up to mental institution saying that she can't even recognise her son.

Isn't this happening even now at 2011? After decades and decades of time and days, human kind has developed drastically to the extent that, better to cover the ass up than helping or standing firm on the truth. No? For instance, the previous Bersih 2.0 rally, media and newspaper twist and turn the story of it and a friend of mine from Johor was actually blaming the opposition for being bizzare. For instance, the movie 'The Cove' as revealed the dolphin killing season held every year in Japan and that Government is still trying to cover their fault till date.

Like Changeling, they can persuade the mother to accept another kid as her son, so can the Government makes us citizen believe that it's all the opposition's fault instead of the police force. So, we're now reverted back to 1920s. So can the Government provides you whale meat but it's high-in-mercury dolphin meat, even endanger your health. No?

A movie about human rights, about truth being twisted and lies being promoted to the face of everyone, about human's cruelty, about us killing us. I watched it with heart, filling every bits of the mother's weakness and strength.

Mill Wheel Ice Cafe, Sunway

Baby bought us a discount coupon for snow ice in Mill Wheel, abandoned for quite some time, finally decide to drop by on the dateline to give it a try, to be honest, it was quite a disaster.

Groupon Malaysia
RM 9.90 for 1 Big Wok Snow Ice Dessert
It was a rainy day, found a parking but the road condition is really bad, puddle everywhere! Went in, being ignored. Reason being is that there's a lot of people, and we were not even been served with a menu - Sucks!
Took ourselves one, waved on the waitress and being ignored again. Keep waving and finally got approached, ordered the snow ice we purchased via discount voucher. Our order is the third one, but being served the last one, ONLY after baby approached and scolded them twice, then they served us - WTF?! Worse still, their snow ice, is the main disaster of all.

Strawberry & Chocolate
Looking good? Special credit to my baby, this really did impressed us at first glance. With all the KokoCrunch, chocolate bites, choco rice, waffles, and strawberry syrups, despite the lousy services back there, we thought this should be nice. Turn out, duh! Besides the chocolate bites are crunchy, the rest are soften already, and the KokoCrunch with not coco taste at all - Sickening!
Mango & Watermelon
This taste slightly better, as they are not creamy based. But tasteless corn flakes and nestum cereal? It's already not much in taste and topped up with those, not wise!
Strawberry
This is the snow ice! I don't know how the 100yen did it, or some other snow ice shops made it, but this is totally Slurpee wanna be, worse still, it's just frozen powder, when it melts, we can see it so clear that the 2 elements are separated - Yucks!

Chocolate
Don't trust my comment or review? Trust your eyes. Perhaps, trust your tongue and give it a try, prove me wrong! See that bits and powders on the spoon? I'm like licking tasteless-cold-milo!

Water flows bottom down, chocolate powder sticking on the side of the wok. This ain't snow ice, this is powder with ice.

Day Trip to Malacca

Exam is over, feeling freaking exhaustive but just can't deny the fact that we can't get our ass down to earth after all these massive craze and stress for over a month so - Malacca, Here We Come!!!

A day trip it is, purpose of this trip - No idea, just for the fun of it, mainly jalan-jalan & makan-makan around. Not too much of visiting, instead we ate quite a lot, after all our day trip cost us RM50 per person (note: Inclusive of petrol, toll and food!) Well people in Malacca might think that's pricey but for us-staying-in-kl for such a long period of time, RM50 - Woots!?

Tan Kim Hock
Master Tan
So sorry that I as a Malaysian not knowing his existence, but knowing only products he offered :x
Majlis Bandaraya Melaka
A sign board provides information 'bout the history of Malacca, especially 'bout the Malacca tree.
Malacca Tree
This should be 'the' tree that our dearest Parameswara lean on!
Or is it not? :x
Leng Lui Felen
Oh our pretty and smart Sejarah Top scorer explaining the history of Malacca, mentioning Parameswara, Sang Kancil, and that she scored A for Sejarah and BM!
Christ Church Melaka

Stay Hungry, Drool over yourself! It all starts from a street name Jonker Street!
马六甲老街老店老故事
Malacca's Old Street, Old shops, Old stories
Sam Shu Gong
Selling mostly desserts and drinks - Cendol, coffee etc
Oh, the Love Birds
Not for sale I think...
Nicely Decorated and Packed!
Very Cozy.
Durian Cendol
Cendol, topped up with durian paste, with 'the' gula melaka, and coconut as well. A normal piece for me, durian taste is there, not too much of the cendol taste though.
Commercialized Menu
Hoe Kee Chicken Rice
Strongly recommended by AhXian our beloved Food Explorer!
Packed Lunch Time
Hainanese Chicken
Oh, the sweetness in the chicken meat, great soy sauce, smoothie smooth chicken sliced, nice!
Chicken Rice Ball
As per Felen, they use the chicken essence to make this rice ball, and that aroma is simply undeniable!
Lotus Seed Soup
Very gao in taste! Felen said it taste like mum's cooking... Till the very last drop!
Special Recipe
Spicy and sour at the same time, who could ever resist such combination!?
Definitely going back for more!

Done for lunch, walking further down Jonker Street for more food hunting! Oh Malacca is freaking hot! Be sure your sunblock, hat or umbrella, and a bottle of water are with you!
Peach Egg Ice Cream
Oh no no no, not ice cream made with egg but made in the shape of an egg. Cooling and icy, a bit of creamy too.
Red Plum + Peach
Combine flavour as well, more varieties.
Apricot
Almond... I think!?
RM3.00 each, along Jonker street (corner shop) Pardon me for not noticing the shop's name ;(
Jonker88
Another group of visitors stop by as well to try, and we're not going be left out for this!
Ah Mah Fish Cake
With a logo sticker from 'Ho Chak', broadcast on TV before, shouldn't be that bad, so stopped by and gave it a try!
Nyonya Laksa
Diced tuna, tau-pok, boiled egg, onions and the very gao laksa soup. Sour and spicy, really an appetite starter! After the first sip, never stop till the end! Too bad I was packed with chicken rice balls!
Seafood Paitti? Patti?
The crispy cup is nice, ingredients, not bad ;)
Baba Cendol
Now this is what we call Cendol. Sidelines at the bottom topped up with mountain of ice, pouring of coconut and gula melaka on top... Tsk tsk tsk Best in town!

Continue our journey down the road and saw this Jonker Walk
Found one wallet on the bench and she used the bottle trying to check out the wallet... Waiting for almost 15 minutes and there comes the owner to claim it.
Funny enough at the end we were like "Eh, we didn't ask whether they're the owner or not lei?!"
I guess that's why we didn't strike toto till date :D
Pineapple Tarts
With not-so-friendly aunty inside selling, refused to give us sample to try, busy packing for us as if we're buying, insisting us to take the bigger pack instead of the smaller one, and said "Very nice one we sell so many years already..." She should know better, you prolonged your sale with just-so-so pineapple tarts, that's all it's going to bring you to, others are selling on racks in Jusco and Cold Storage, ops!

Food and shopping are done in the hot and sunny afternoon, tired and drove off the street to Dataran Pahlawan for Nadeje's Pastry house!
Original Layer Cake
Milky taste, the layers tell you their efforts. They overdid the layer slice a bit, has those 'burn' kind of smell, very nice!
Orange Chocolate Layer Cake
They have the orange aroma in it, not that thick in taste, suitable for those who's looking for low fat or less sweet kinda dessert.
Tiramisu Layer Cake
Taste more or less like the original slice, lack of the tiramisu taste in this slice. Slightly overrated though ;(
Sprite something something...
Sparkling drink with syrup in it, too sweeeet!
Cool Down?!
Oh this tastes just like cough syrup ;( And I choose not to remember its name!
Tropical Punch
Now this is still okay, at least the name and taste correspond each other...

One hardworking afternoon to walk around Jonker Street, off to Dataran Pahlawan to meet up the Tan Twins, set ourselves down for high class high tea, and dragged ourselves down to Satay Celup.
Special thanks to the Twin Brothers that taught me how to go to one of the nice satay shop but SORRY! I don't have a brain that works very well to remember roads and ended up Mr.Ang spent time twisting and turning around till we see this......
'The' Capitol Satay Celup
Reached at around 5 minutes to 6, and the queue is already crazy looong... Worse part is, we have to queue by the road side while cars are driving recklessly regarding  us pedestrians standing by the road side. I mean, honestly, you such a famous shop, can't you just arrange something for your customers?! Seriously?!
VARIETIES!
Basically everything, you name it, they'll have it!
Kakak Mixing Sauces
Basic satay sauce, add-in satay paste and peanuts altogether, very thick in texture and in taste, not bad overall.
Yao Cha Kuai Dipped with Satay Sauce
Okay, this kinda steamboat, if you're a first timer, trying is no harm. But if you were to ask me to eat again, I think I'll skip it. Sauce is just too thick to go with. Yes, the aroma is there. Yes, the peanuts do taste nice. Yes, this idea is extraordinary. But I still prefer the general way of steamboat - with all due respects!

Okay, that's all for our Malacca trip. Not much of information we had, blindly walk and drive around town to check out stuff. Anyway I hope this post helps, 'cause I've been google-ing for stuff and none is helpful. Better get some local friends to bring you around to make your trip worthwhile!

Cheers!
